We have different incomes, incentives, and education.
Working class is without a college degree.
A two income family with both adults being teachers, both with some seniority and the masters that boosts salary, are in the highest income quintile while working many fewer days and hours per year than someone stocking shelves at Walmart. Those "socio cultural professionals" as you call them hire and benefit from low paid illegal workers. House Cleaners, lawn guys, construction, restaurant, etc. Our interests are not the same. They will never support the working class.
Socio cultural professionals hate our guts, and we know it. They are the enemy.
Clearly the left in America do not believe that working class voters are essential to their political coalition.
The American left has clearly opted for socialism in economics and the destruction of heteronormity and any other vestige of restraint or morality in social policy.
There is nothing in the American left agenda for the working class who primarily depend on service jobs in economics and, for the most part, support predictable, conventional trends in social policy.
Must read. Always surprised to see progressives waving away major coalitional problems. Maximal progressive campaigns seem unfocused and untrustworthy in many cases. Overpromising is a problem when the people you want to move don’t necessarily believe that good things can happen. First task is to establish trustworthiness that you want to fight for them not just show how good a person you are.
At the end of the day, a majority of Dems are still for they/them and it's a hill they're willing to die on. Working class voters have more common sense than that.
I do love the idea of progressives loudly advocating their progressive positions. For years, these people have run as moderate and then stabbed everyone in the back. No one trusts them anymore. It's been clear for a while now that progressives are their way or the highway in a country to has always been socially conservative. They keep trying to wish away large groups of people who represent legacy Americans. What they don't seem to understand is that many of their very own progressives are 65+ GenX and GenZ will be around for a long while. And while progressives like to stand for whoever is the least "normal" most of their voters are white. All that to say, keep pushing progressive social policies and keep losing.

Sounds like you hate your own position ?

White Collar Pundits quit fawning all over Blue Collar Labor .
You would never want your kid to do dirty work so why all the fake tears of support /
Plus if you had really done dumb work you would know we are not all Angels .
Where has this substack been all my life?
With AI & Robots what is the human to do ?
Why all the fawning over Labor by the White Collar Pundits,
who certainly do not want to go back to blue collar themselves .
Seems like a backward political movement .
